Have you had a bad day? Failed the exam? Lost your job? Had a big fight with a loved one? Of course, you are entitled to be sad, furious and uneasy. Entertain those feelings. Acknowledge that you are indeed not fine. However, put a time frame to wallow in those emotions. Do not stay there. Later on, you should be able to sort things out and find the best solution in different situations. Compartmentalize your life. The rest of the day does not have to feel down. And definitely, the rest of the week should be better than this one day. Do not sabotage the things yet to come. Assuming negative outcomes should only prepare you and not lead you to senseless worry. Welcome the day like is the always the best day to live.

Everything is temporary except for change. Any difficult situation you are in should bring out the best in you. You are given a challenge and again, this is only for a period of time. It will not last forever. Savour the moment; push yourself to the limit. You must not be the first person to be in this situation and you will not fail.

After that bad day, sleep it off first. Cry if you must, but make sure you do rest after. Somehow, that energy will be regained and you will have the strength physically to deal with the next days. In times like this, we wished that there was a reset button in humans so we would not have to endure the pain. However, these emotions make us human; removing them will make us indifferent beings. Nonetheless, do not agonize yourself with enduring that feeling, there is a way to partly reset ourselves somehow, only there is no button.  Once you wake up in the morning, smile, because you are given today to change things. You may do this in front of the mirror or even when you just got out of bed. Even without a bad day, make smiling in the morning a habit. It will always be a reminder to your brain to be positive. It’s a simple mind trick where you start with make believe and end with simply believing. Push yourself to do this no matter how silly it may feel. It works wonders. It makes the feeling lighter significantly. And the best tip I had ever been given to lighten my up day was to smile at other people. Smiling is contagious. Furthermore, you do not have to say anything and you suddenly influence other people’s days. At first, it will feel stupid or hilarious even. Some people will not return the favour but most will no matter how puzzled they felt. Your day might end badly but influencing other people’s days positively will almost instantaneously make your day better.

Together with smiling in the morning be thankful. Thank yourself. You have been through a lot but you will keep on striving to be better. Promise yourself to do better every time. Recall all the milestones in your life; list down your skills and your talents too. This set of things make you, you. You are a unique being. If you’ve seen the movie, Three Idiots, the lead role always maintained the mantra “All is well.” And it never failed him. Making a personal mantra can also calm your nerves especially when you are out there alone and consequently you do not have someone else to talk to immediately. Take long deep breaths in between murmuring the mantra. It will calm the nerves. You may also close your eyes, count one through ten with those long deep breaths. It shall put your mind at ease and reset the problem-solving part of your brain.

Hope is good when taken in sufficient doses. The future will not always be dark. There are bright things ahead. There is a sea of possibilities and it is impossible that you will not bump in either of them. Actively participate in the world especially if you have been working in the same cubicle, in the same company in the last ten years or you do online work for a living. Change up your routines. Living comfortably in routine makes life boring. You are human; you should never be satisfied with anything. Do not settle for less when there is a huge open door for a better life. What you have now is just convenience; it is not really what you wanted. This should not be meant for all the aspects in your life. For sure, one angle in your life needs improvement. Seek self-development. No, I am not telling you to enrol in a class and pay for it; sequentially, you get stressed by the idea that you have to pay for something new in your life. Begin with simple and free things. Walk in a different route to work. Take time alone in the park and read your favourite book again. Visit a friend whom you never see but works in the same building as you do. Get out there and avoid being stale and stationary.

Look forward to the new people you will meet or new experiences. With all those tips mentioned, consequently, you increase human interaction. No man is an island. Yes, we all need alone time and yet we all need interaction. It is always a forked road and we may choose to take either alternately. Limiting ourselves will limit our life experiences. Recognize that there are so many things you can do and you can do them anytime. One example of reaching out to others is helping them out. This may be a friend in need of advice or an entire charity group who needs support. It does not have to be monetary. Legwork is better aid than financial assistance. Being there physically and emotionally can ease up people. From these encounters, we learn of other worlds. We may start to feel privileged but that is not the end goal. We should feel empathy and look at the bigger picture that life is not perfect but we can make it better together.

And one last advise, avoid vices. Channel your energies to positive things. Not only the common vices like smoking or drugs should be eliminated but also endless worrying is considered a vice. Think of other probabilities and prepare contingency plans but do not revolve around the idea that everything will fail. Sadly, this is the vilest vice you can ever have. Attract the universe of positive energy and summon it towards you. Take off your mind from these vices by doing five productive things once you wake up in the morning. When resting, take anything beside you and describe it using positive adjectives.  And continue doing so until you see a change in your perspective.

To sum it all up, begin your day with a smile, hope and gratitude. Shake negativity, worry and vices off. Everything is temporary except for change. And lastly, share your life and your positivity. Enjoy your day ahead!
